Planning a family day
Booking the Pirate Boat in Side for Someone Else: A Short Guide
Grandparents taking the grandchildren out, a friend's family staying at another hotel, a treat for your sister's children: a pirate day can be booked by someone who will not be on board. It works, as long as the details belong to the people travelling.
Short answer
You can book a pirate day for someone else. Give the name, hotel, room number and phone number of a person who is travelling, not your own, because that is where the pickup message goes and who the driver looks for. The fare is paid in euros on the day by the party on board, so make sure they know the amount and bring the cash.
Whose details go on the booking
The booking is the driver's and the crew's only picture of who is coming, so it must describe the travellers. Use the name of one adult who will actually be there; their hotel, chosen from the right area in the form; their room number; and a phone that will be with them in Side, ideally with WhatsApp.
Your own number is not enough. The day before, the pickup time and meeting point go to the phone on the booking, and if that phone is in your pocket at another hotel — or in another country — the message reaches the wrong person.
Guests by age
Add each traveller in their own age band, just as you would for yourself. On the pirate boat trip, adults from 11 pay €20, children from 2 to 10 pay €14, and anyone under 2 is free. On the kids' pirate programme, every guest from 2 pays the same €23. A single booking can take up to 20 guests; for a larger party, the groups guide explains how to enquire.
Write the total down for them in words, such as two × €20 plus three × €14, so the person paying on the morning is not doing sums at the meeting point.
Paying and cancelling when you are not there
Nothing is taken at booking: no card, no deposit. The travellers settle the fare in euros when they sail, so the booking is really a reservation in their name. If you want to treat them, give them the cash beforehand.
If their plans change, they — or you — can cancel without paying anything as long as it is at least 48 hours ahead of the trip. Agree between you who will tell us, so the message is not sent twice or not at all. Our booking guide covers changes in more detail.
Grandparents and children travelling together
Our pirate days are family days, and the adults in the party stay with the children throughout, so send the children with someone ready to keep an eye on them all day, in the games and at the swims.
If a grandparent has limited mobility or has never been on a boat, tell us before you book. Write on WhatsApp and we will check with the crew, who decide on the day. It is far better to ask than to find out on the quayside.
A checklist before you press send
- The day: the pirate boat trip or the kids' pirate programme?
- A date from tomorrow onwards that suits the travellers.
- The lead traveller's full name.
- Their hotel and room number.
- Their mobile number, with the country code.
- Every guest, in the right age band.
- That they know the fare is paid in euros on the day.
