Side Pirate Boat: First Boat Trip, Grandparents, Limited Mobility
For some families the pirate ship is everyone's first time at sea; for others the question is whether Grandma can manage the day. Here is what each day asks of a guest, plainly, and where you should ask us before booking.
Short answer
Both pirate days begin at your hotel, where an air-conditioned vehicle picks you up, and last about 6 hours, with lunch on board. Nobody is expected to be a sailor. If someone in your party has limited mobility, a health condition or a fear of the water, ask us before you book — on WhatsApp at +90 536 603 75 84 — and we will check steps, access and seating with the crew. Grandparents pay the adult fare: €20 on the pirate boat trip, €23 on the kids' programme.
What the day asks of a guest
- Getting into and out of a vehicle at the hotel, and a short drive.
- Boarding the pirate ship — at the harbour on the pirate boat trip, at the Side departure dock on the kids' programme.
- About 6 hours away from the hotel, much of it on deck in the sun.
- Lunch on board.
- Swimming is on the programme on both days, but it is a stop in the day, not the point of it.
A first time on a boat
If a child — or an adult — has never been on a boat, the pirate theme helps. On the pirate boat trip, the crew are in costume and the children are given costumes as they board, so the first minutes are about dressing up rather than the water. On the kids' programme the ship sets off at 10:00 and goes gently down the river before reaching the sea at the river mouth.
We cannot promise how anyone will feel on the water, and we make no seasickness claims. If you are worried, tell us before you book; the crew decides on the day.
Bringing grandparents
Grandparents are welcome on both days. On the pirate boat trip they pay the adult fare of €20, like any guest aged 11 or over. On the kids' programme they pay €23, exactly the same as the grandchildren.
Think about what kind of day they enjoy. The pirate boat trip along the coast offers more time to sit, watch and swim if they want to. The kids' programme is louder and busier, ending with a foam party and dancing — wonderful to watch a grandchild in, less so if someone needs quiet.
Remind them to pack a hat, sun cream and any medicine they take during the day.
Limited mobility and wheelchair users
This is where we must be most careful. From a web page we cannot tell you whether a wheelchair, a walking frame or someone who cannot manage steps will be comfortable on board.
Please message us before you book with the specifics: what the person can and cannot do, and what equipment they use. We will find out what we can and tell you plainly. Booking is free and payment is only on the day, so asking first costs nothing — and it is far better than a disappointing morning at the harbour.
Booking for an older or less mobile guest
When you book, give the hotel and area where that guest is staying, and a phone number they — or someone with them — will answer. Their pickup time comes through on the eve of the trip, by call or WhatsApp, and they should be ready at the meeting point in good time.
If plans change, the booking can be cancelled free of charge until 48 hours before. Our safety guide covers the licensed crew, and the booking guide walks through the form.
