The Pirate Boat Foam Party in Side: What Happens and What to Wear
The foam party is the last big moment of the kids' pirate programme. Here is what happens, which of the two days has it, and how to dress for it.
Short answer
The foam party belongs to the kids' pirate programme: after lunch, the deck fills with foam, music, the Halay and children's dances. It is in the €23 fare. The pirate boat trip is the coast day, with costumes, a treasure hunt and swim stops instead, so book the kids' programme if the foam is the reason you are coming. Dress children in swimwear and keep a dry set of clothes in the bag.
Which day has the foam party
Only one of them. The kids' pirate programme lists "foam party and dance entertainment on board" among what the fare includes. The pirate boat trip has its own highlights — costumes, a treasure hunt, games, swim stops and lunch.
If foam is the thing your children are excited about, the kids' programme is the day to book.
What happens
The foam party comes after the kids' lunch, as the last act of the day before the transfer home. Foam covers the deck, the music goes on, and the animation team gets the dancing going: the Halay, a Turkish line dance, and children's dances.
Parents are welcome to join in. On this day everyone has paid the same fare, so there is no reason to watch from the edge unless you want to.
What to wear
- Swimwear is the simplest choice: it does not matter how wet or foamy it gets.
- If your child prefers to keep a T-shirt on, choose one you do not mind soaking.
- Leave good shoes, phones and anything precious in the bag, away from the deck.
- Keep dry clothes and a towel ready for afterwards — the transfer home follows soon after.
- A plastic bag for the wet things keeps the rest of your bag dry.
If your child is not sure about it
Some children dive in; others want to watch first. You know which yours is. A child who dislikes loud music or crowds may prefer to see it from your lap or from the edge of the fun before joining — and there is no rule that says they have to join at all.
If your child has sensitive skin or eyes and you are worried about the foam, tell us before you book. We cannot give medical assurances on a web page; the crew decides on the day, and you decide for your child.
Babies under 2 ride free on this day. Plan to hold them, or step back from the busiest part of the deck. The toddlers guide covers the rest.
Getting photos of it
This is the moment parents most want to photograph and the one where phones are most at risk. A waterproof pouch helps. Professional photos and video are taken during the animations and are sold separately; ask the price on board.
