Pirate Costumes and Face Painting on the Side Pirate Boat
Turning into a pirate is a big part of the children's day, and the two days handle it differently: one hands out costumes, the other paints faces.
Short answer
On the pirate boat trip, children are given pirate costumes as they board and the crew are dressed as pirates; you are welcome to bring your child's own costume instead. On the kids' pirate programme, face painting is free and is how the children become pirates for the day. Neither costs anything beyond the fare.
Costumes on the pirate boat trip
The costumes are part of the included list for this day: the children receive them as they come aboard, so there is nothing to bring and nothing to pay. The crew wear pirate costume too, which sets the tone from the first minute. If your child already owns a pirate outfit and would rather wear that, their own is welcome.
The costumes are for the children. Grown-ups who want to join in are free to bring a hat or a bandana of their own.
Face painting on the kids' programme
On the children's day the transformation comes from the animation team. Free face painting is on the included list, and it is the moment the children become pirates. After that come the treasure map, the tug-of-war, catching the pirate Ferhat, lunch and the foam party.
On this day the children dress up with face paint rather than handed-out costumes. If your child wants to wear an outfit as well, there is no harm in packing their own — but plan for the swim at the river mouth and for the foam, both of which will soak whatever they have on.
Practical points for parents
- Put swimwear on underneath: both days include a swim, so a costume worn over swimwear saves a change.
- Keep a dry set of clothes in a bag for the ride back to the hotel.
- If your child has sensitive skin, tell the team before the face painting starts.
- A camera or phone is worth bringing; on the kids' day, the crew's professional photos and video are sold apart from the fare.
- Children under 2 travel free on both days. If your youngest needs anything particular, drop us a WhatsApp ahead of booking and we will ask the crew.
Choosing by what your child loves
A child who adores dressing up will likely want the costume on the pirate boat trip, along with the coast cruise and swim stops. A child who wants the painted face, the games and the party will be happier on the kids' pirate programme. Remember the fares differ: €20 for adults and €14 for children aged 2 to 10 on the first, one fare of €23 for everyone from 2 on the second. The games page and the side-by-side comparison help with the rest.
